2005-2006 Goals & Values

Organization Goals and Values

  1. Become the most organized group in the College of Engineering by
    • being open and direct
    • involving and informing all members
    • holding effective meetings
    • implementing the WWW
  2. Continue to improve the quality of tours and information sessions by
    • paying attention to detail
    • providing thorough training and certification for all EA members
    • expanding tour and info session offerings
    • recruiting outstanding members of the College of Engineering
  3. Become a cohesive group of students and friends through
    • group learning/ team building activities
    • social events
    • cooperative efforts on tours, info sessions, and other EA activities
  4. Provide new services to prospective students and the Cornell community.

Executive Committee Goals

  1. Prepare a formal constitution including a
    • method of selecting officers
    • clear setup of offices and duties
    • clarifying future size and selectivity of EA.
  2. Plan and holding organized and effective meetings.
  3. Work to involve every ambassador in the organization.
  4. Help to relieve pressure on Admissions Office by becoming more self-sufficient.
  5. Prepare documents and written guidelines for future years.

Expectations & Point System

  1. Check the website at least once a week for updates.
  2. Attend all general meetings and
    • actively participate in group discussions
    • provide feedback/suggest new ideas
  3. Become a trained and certified EA member by
    • attending all training sessions
    • demonstrating knowledge of the College of Engineering
  4. Commit to at least 2 events per semester and
    • find a replacement if you cannot attend any event for which you are signed up
    • arrive at least 10 minutes early to each event
    • complete attendance sheet upon arrival to each event
    • wear EA shirt and nametag (clothing bearing insignias from other colleges is unacceptable)
  5. Point System
    • 2 points: absence from a tour, info session, or other activity involving prospective students for which the member has signed up but has not found a replacement
    • 2 points: unexcused absence from a teaching session
    • 1 point: unexcused absence from a general meeting
    • At 4 points, EA membership status will be reviewed and limited activity or expulsion will be considered.

  3. Sign up for events online and keep your information current:
    • Easy way to sign up for tours, info sessions, and other events.
    • After selecting a particular date and time, your name will appear next to that event.
  4. Accept new Engineering Ambassadors applications
  5. Provide extensive information about the College of Engineering to prospective students
